Gigaton Packaging

Is this the best one they've done?

The images, the foil, the booklet, the lyrics juxtaposed against the images.  It really is stunning.  Not to mention the production value in the album (mastered in my home state of Maine).

I think the argument can be made. . . .interested in what others think.

First cd I’ve bought in years and it’s worth it. It’s a beautifully done package, lots of thought and time went into that. Had a beer or 5, blasted it on the soundbar and sub, and read the lyrics as I listened to it for the first time fully. A wonderfully done record. Love the audio mix, especially Matt. The whole package is top notch.

Interesting.  Appreciate the input.  For better or worse I feel like this packaging really captures what feels like dire times right now.

Oddly, I take some comfort in that.  As others have said, the album seems to have come at a perfect time.

The cd itself is the best thing they’ve ever done.

They should have cut a few songs and made a single vinyl record and ditched the gatefold - 22.99 out the door, but yes, the package is nice but it should have been a “deluxe” version...

I feel like the cover art in particular would have lost something if it was done this way.  The gatefold image is really spectacular when open.

No Code, Vitalogy, Binaural, Gigaton is pretty good.  The others are pretty mediocre in their packaging.  Yield was better as a CD than an LP
His eminence has yet to show.

Not sure.  I have the 10c version has the same packaging feel as 'Let's Play Two" which was supposed to be an exclusive to 10C members.  The album cover has a little texture to it.    Can anyone comment who ordered outside of fanclub.   I believe Santo said in another post their was no difference this time so perhaps all like this.
    1996 - Columbia, MD & Augusta, ME
2013 - Worcester, MA (Lightning Bolt Release)
    2016 - Fenway Park I and II
2017 - HSCM (EV) Boston, MA
    2018 - Seattle I, Fenway Park I and II
    2021 - Ohana Festival (EV/EV/PJ)
2022 - EV (Beacon Theater II & Newark)

From what I saw of Santos, there was no variant given to random 10C orders ala Lightning Bolt.

However, someone on Facebook claimed to have received a variant color, but I only saw one person claim and not the usual "I got this instead of black. Is it rare? Did anyone else get it?" posts that Facebook breeds like flies.

"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"
  • I like the cd packaging better than the vinyl.  They should have housed the wax in silver like the cd package holds the cd.  The photo across the back of the gatefold is hilariously photoshopped and altered, not the quality I was hoping for.  The pic is very “vault-ish” in execution and I was hoping for more hd/gloss.  It’s a good package, but they tried to make a clean, simple package and missed some opportunities.

for one, they avoided all color wax, premium, 10c only etc. editions.  That’s fine, but they missed the opportunity to add intrigue and interest to the package.

secondly, the cd is as basic as it comes.  Even the orange vs was cool compared to the silver 80’s look this one has.

i would have liked a little more flair to the package, something to
show they spent time together hashing our options.  I know they’ve passed that on to others who work
for them now, but the personalized sketches and drawings, some hand written lyrics, notes in the edges, all that stuff added to the personality of previous albums that I miss on this one.

I'm like an opening band for your mom.
