Songs that seem to copy PJ songs

I know we ve discussed this subject several times. PJ's songs are so great that there will always be other bands trying to copy them. I recently heard Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams and instantly thought of Alive. I went and listened to Alive and bingo they sure sound alot alike. Esp. the guitar solos. Oh well!

    boulevard of broken dreams has the same riff as wonderwall by oasis. that song hanging by a moment by life house has a similar chorus to courduroy

    "While We Cry" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd is eerily like Yellow Ledbetter. It has the same chord progression and a lot of the same guitar styling. It appears on the album "Ledbetter Heights." Hmmm... Yellow Ledbetter...Ledbetter heights... is this a coincidence?

    Would be a huge coincidence. Could've named it little wing heights though ;)

    I don't see the big deal in songs sounding alike. There is tons and tons of music out there, so a whole pile of them will sound like something else....intesional or not.
    The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

    And I won't make the same mistakes

    interesting one (IMO) is the last song offof White Stripes latest: "I'm Lonely (But I ani't that Loney Yet)" sounds very similar to "Drifting" off of Lost Dogs, although the style is kinda different.

    Occasionaly songs will sound the same...even pearl jam have songs that could have been considered to copy someone else (not saying they copyed thoguh) for example Yellow Ledbetter - Little Wing or Thimbing My Way - Love Will Tear Us Apart (in some parts)

    I agree with AfternoonDelight. I think in most cases its not trying to copy another artist or band, it's just that their music will sound similar because they admire and respect others' songs.

    Even though I did bust a (now defunct) local band from my hometown for basically copying the tunes of two bands. One of their songs was Wishlist with different words and the other was really similar to an REM song, but I have forgotten which one. I talked to the author and he did admit it because he was having "writer's block".

    I think Hanging By A Moment also has some of Nirvana's All Apologies

    It really doesn't bother me if a song has a similar sound to another, as long as it's not a total rip off.

    I just downloaded While We Cry by Kenny Wayne Shepherd and it's almost identical to Yellow Ledbetter. An obvious homage to PJ here. Not like the Little Wing similarities, this song IS Yellow Ledbetter. The fact that at the beginning of the song he claims that he wrote it is a bit odd. I can't find a stream of it, but it is the same song.
    I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.
