Anyone know the meaning behind this title? It doesn't appear in the song, only 'I got shit'.

    Id is part of Freud's composition of pleasure which includes id, ego and superego. In my opinion it's about losing confidence in finding love but holding on that final thread of a moment that inspired you.

    Very smart! I was thinking you might be wrong, but when I looked at the song title on the site, it is "I got Id" not "I got ID". I don't know if this is the consensus belief, I just never had a clue and always wondered about it. I think your explanation is a good one. Thanks.

    So I remember id, ego, superego from high school. What were the simple definitions of those three?

    From what I've read, they had to change the title because the label would not them use "I Got Shit".

    The song has a lot of interesting lines that allow for so many different interpretations.

    "Only advantage this life's got on me" (???)

    "Never lets me be right" (???)


    Is part of this about some kind of self-consciousness?

    Id is the division of psyche that is totally unconciuos and serves as a maker of instinctive and animalistic impulses and demands immediate satisfaction of these primitave needs. It is "to have and to be," without the care for consequences of satisfying those demands.
