Life Wasted about PJ's Past...I think so...

well...
analyze the lyrics
..."I've faced it...a life wasted...Im Never going back again"
"Nothing back there for you to find...or was it you, you left behind?"

I think the second sentence there, means PJ and Leash
almost Every person would like that song to be played, and Ed has denied thousands of time that they'll not play it (but for Boston's soundcheck...you dont know)

the 1st sentence maybe its about Ed's past or PJ's past...Ed said on the Jools show (when he was shown the Alive video live in 92) that they're much wiser know.

We know ed's past also, and Pj's
like for example when eddie used to jump to the audience during porch...much wilder things even...

That's my statement for know...I think its about that

    I heard the song once...

I don't actually know anything about Pearl Jam or Eddie Vedder's personal lives, I just like the music and whatever message I get out of it. The crowd surfing and hanging from the ceiling was cool, but their new persona is cool too.

I think I'd go insane if my fans tried to follow my every move and analyze my life in that way.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire

i have no clear insight into why the guys refuse to play leash.

i would imagine its a powerfull reason though for them not to play it when it is so revered by us all.

maybe it stokes a bad memory for them...who knows.

lets just be thankfull that we have such a catalogue of songs to enjoy.

I was thinking it was about alcohol or drug abuse or a certain outlook on life that wasn't very productive.I don't think Leash or jumping off stuff has anything to do with it,I would hope Pearl Jam would be a little deeper than that.

The Ed of today writes much more in general terms.
The song is a about someone/anyone who´s been in a bad place and has realized what life/love/ lust or whatever else life holds for each of us- if we make it happen. I think you´re over- analyzing. I don´t think many, or even any of the songs, are something other than small portions/stories about his personal life and everything it brings. Not so much about the fans.
