No Code

I've seen a lot of people saying that NO CODE has this name because it's full of code, you know, that triangle thing on the cover and the hidden 'pearl jam no code' on the cd itself.

I tought that was right, but later i got to thinking that the message behind it is that "theres actually NO CODE".. i mean.. it's not a code.. the picture is there right in front of you, and so is the writing on the cd..

i think the message is that sometimes you think there is something hidden but in the end it's right in front of you, and you don't see it..

i think maybe that's what thay wanted us to think about..
so.. what you think about that? i mean, what NO CODE means to you?

  • For me, I've always thought of No Code as an album of rebellion. The reason for that is when you look at a lot of ppl who claim to be die hard rock n'roll fans and metal fans, they say that music has to be written a certain way or "it's not rock" or "it's not metal," and with this album, I think Pearl Jam was trying to say there was no code in the music world, and it wasn't about genre, it was about the music in general.

    yeah i agree with that
the musical part of no code is all about that for me too
but here i'm talking about the material part of the album, not really the music
    basically about the album package

  • Ah. That's cool dude. But usually when I think of an album title I often refer to the music to try and figure out why the album was given it's name, as well as referring to the situation the band was in at the time it was recorded. But yeah, the cover art does have a lot to do with the title, and the music as well.
