im absoutlely in love with this song, every time i hear it i feel so moved
seeing it live in philly last year was amazing, the emotion is so raw

paint a picture, using only gray
light your pillow, lay back, watch the flames
i'll tell a story, no one would listen that long
it's hard to imagine, it's hard to imagine...
tear into yourself, count tales on your arm
ah the beating, tickin' like a bomb
after having seen all that they saw
it's hard to imagine, it's hard to imagine...
things were different then, all is different now
i tried to explain, somehow...
things were different then, all is different now
i tried to explain, somehow...
things were different then, all is different now
i tried to explain, i hope this works somehow...
things were different then, all is different now
i tried to explain, oh, somehow...
ooh...oh...oh...
"Pussies no more"
"Johnny we miss, Pete your still the greatest"

i feel the same in my opinion there is no greater song in pearl jam's song book than Hard To Imagine.

I'm amazed it never got on vs.

its one of those songs that makes me smile

no matter whats happened in your life you can pull through it......

getting goosebumps just thining of it!

edit: oh and its "count days on our arm" not tales........ (i think)
  • Everytime I hear this song, I always picture a dim lit room with a fireplace...
and I'm kicking back on the softest sofa...just thinking.
If I could be anything in the world I would be your teardrop...I would be born in your eyes, live on your cheeks, and die on your lips.
  • totally fav pj song i've only seen them play once but it was incredible at nj 2nd night 06 front row in front of stone and when he plays the first chords i almost fell backwards with elation i hope to hear it again sometime......
jesus greets me looks just like me ....
  • What a georgeous little gem. I love this song..it just..has that elemental and earthy feel to it with a sense of misty veiling...too beautiful yet so delicate...

I think sometimes I'm confused about the formula of lyrics. I read the first part, and I'm like YES! wow I can't wait for more, and then the rest of the lyrics are just ramblings. I guess to fit the music that's how lyrics should be eh?

However, I also realized that I like a song before I know the lyrics, which means the complete song is more important to me than the lyrics. In fact, my opinion of Dirty Frank changed greatly once I knew the lyrics. Sometimes what I should expect from lyrics confuses me.

the only line of trhe song i don't understand or at least can't "interprete" is : "after having seen all that they saw"

everything else makes sense to me

It looks like the lines previous refer to an individual, so maybe the individual is saying . . . "you saw all this, and you did nothing."

The lines about watching the flames, and after having seen all they saw, remind me of 9/11. That explanation could go in tandem with it as well.
