I know they are a huge corporation that tries to maximize profits, but some of their recent schemes are really greedy!
For Madness (80s British Ska band), the first presale they held was for platinum seats only. You had to wait a few days later for a presale for regular seats.
For Pet Shop Boys / New Order at the Hollywood Bowl, they originally sold seats in the section I wanted for $99.50, and I was happy to get them at that price. Aisle seats in the section were $119.50 (they have been doing this for a while now). When I checked the same section later in the day, seats in the same section were now $144.50.
I am not sure if they are trying to condition us to always buy tickets early, or if they are taking advantage of the perceived demand based on how many people were trying to buy tickets at that moment.
What will they think of next??

They call it "dynamic pricing" and prices will fluctuate based on demand. Been doing it for a while now. Once in a while you can take advantage if a show isn't selling well and get a reduced price close to show date, but usually prices jump up, often a few minutes after the initial on-sale.
I posted about it in the other TM thread that when Black Crowes tix went on sale the price of a set actually jumped in my cart from one page to the next, a practice that has to be illegal.
They are the worst.

Unless people choose to boycott TM, I don't see any end to their shenanigans!0 -
I don't think it's TM being greedy, it's them providing options so the promoters can make more money (which means they can pay the bands more). TM gets the service fee's.. they don't get the extra revenue from charging higher prices?

I don't think you need a boycott. Assuming it's similar everywhere, take a look at a Black Crowes or Black Keys show. Have to imagine there are others, too. If they price shows too high, consumers respond accordingly.0
