For my fellow NYCers traveling to Baltimore I just got an Amtrak ticket from NY Penn to Baltimore Penn for $55. Haven’t booked my return yet, but that is a pretty good price for those of you considering taking the train. I am on the 11:05am on 3/28. If anyone else is heading down on that train let me know. Happy travels.

Think we are taking the train from Philly to Baltimore and back but not sure yet.  Might still drive.
Up to NY I prefer to park in Newark or Secaucus and train over.

Your pic makes me think Lebowski.

Funny you should mention Lebowski. One of my good friends works with Lebowski Fest and my profile photo was taken at one of the Lebowski Fests at an old bowling alley in Queens, which I think has since been torn down.

  • As a former employee of Amtrak, I suggest booking early as the pricing is based on availability and will go up as the date approaches.

But if it’s sunny I want to drive and raining take the train. Does Amtrak offer long range forecasts?

You can book early and cancel coach/business (NE Regional) or business class/1st class (Acela) about an hour before departure if the weather is looking good and get full refund. If you have to book a different time you will be subject to current (higher prices)

Business class on Amtrak is so worth it.  I like taking the train up the NE.

I looked at the Acela. It was $128 one way. Still a great price. I often take it from NYC to DC. But going to Baltimore is an hour closer and the time difference wasn’t that much. So I opted for the cheaper fare.  More money to spend at the show.
  • Enjoy it fellows. If I get a Baltimore ticket I'll drive from philly. If I get a MSG ticket, ill go the cheaper alternative to Amtrak and take a NJT train out of Trenton, NJ.

But it's likely I'll have to catch them in the Fall.
