I remember finding out about this show the next day (I had gone to the Tampa show - which I think was a day or two before the HOB show). I think you had to win tickets through a radio station to get?

Camp Freddy with guests Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Macy Gray, Steve Jones, Cypress Hill,Mark McGrath and Steve Stevens, at a party in Hollywood. Maybe 500 people there.
Neil Young and Crazy Horse in a 1500 seat theater.
Flickerstick in front of about 10 people at a sports bar in college.
Not a surprise show, but I recently saw the Melvins in a small bar. What a show!
It wasn't secret, but Pearl Jam at the commodore fit's the bill. 1100 seat bar in Vancouver. It was an event for 99.3 the fox in Vancouver. You could only win tix off the radio. I tried extremely hard to get tix, so I was pretty stoked once I won a pair.

Yes. It was a contest. Record stores (Tower or Virgin or HMV) also had a contest for this one through the label.

I don't think it was a secret, but PJ at the HOB in Florida in 2003. My buddy, who lived in Orlando at the time, won tickets over the radio. He called me on Thursday night and said he had a ticket and a place to stay, I just had to get down there. Booked a flight and took off the next morning. Fun time seeing them in such a small setting.
