I remember back in high school when "who you are" and no code came out. It was a point of no return for the multitude of casual fans that I knew. They were all done with the band, only myself and the other diehards remained. They just couldn't believe that the same guy who sang black, daughter and Jeremy would change his signature baritone to the version of him on "sometimes" (for example). Just my opinion, but I thought he was just expanding his range, and he was probably going through the same thing that Thom Yorke was experiencing - sick of hearing his own signature voice everywhere. Kid A / Amnesiac was probably a similar reaction to the casual fans "Where the hell is his signature sound??". This rant was longer than anticipated lol.

My early experiences with this song was during my multiple year gap year between high school and when I ended up going to university. I was working at a grocery store, restocking the shelves overnight. We'd put 99.9 KISW (Seattle Hard Rock station that we're able to pick up on Vancouver Island) on the stores's PA, and I remember this song getting so much airplay. It might have taken a bit for No Code to grow on me as an album, but this song had me right away. This song always takes me back to that period of time after High School where I didn't know what I was doing, and trying to figure it out
Yeah no code was a great time in my life - actually I had the tape (still had a walkmen in 1996 lol) on one of my trips to Vancouver Island, so "off he goes" and "present tense" will always be connected to the old growth forests of the island

I heard Who You Are on my way to work this evening on PJ Radio. It was from 11/96 in Berlin and it sounded fantastic. It sounded a little more like the studio version than the recent versions live. I love both versions of it and can't really pick which one I liked best. That song to me is like my three children I have. I love them all equally so much. I am going to the shows in Las Vegas, Camden, and Nashville and really hope I get to hear it at one of those shows. I really hope they play it in Oakland also for my good friend Zod. I am thinking of making a "WHO YOU ARE" sign but it would have to be for the Nashville show being it is the only show I can actually drive to. Spirit airlines would probably charge me like $60 to carry a large "WHO YOU ARE" sign on the plane.
The next song they played was Get Right and Rod or Rob said it was a Matt Cameron song that they have only played 13 times live a was hoping they dust it off for the upcoming tour. It is a really cool song also and I agree and hope to hear it as well. It's kind of interesting how some songs are like that and just get forgotten about. They now have so many albums and songs it would be hard to rotate them all and make them sound good as well. I admire them for the variety they are able to give us.

It can be done.
After seeing that San Diego setlist, I wholeheartedly support this song request, and really any lesser played songs from No Code, Yield, Binaural, and Riot Act.
On the Floor both nights. 3 of us going. Between 2 10c memberships and fan2fan we managed to score 3 ga tickets for each night.. flight doesn't get into san fran til 3 on the first show.. so guessing I'll be at the back of the pit for that one.. but hopefully get in line earlier for night 2.
