Why so many tix appearing on secondary ticket sites??

Thought it would be interesting to see how many tix would hit those secondary sites such as vivid seats, viagogo etc.
They all have tickets? Outrageous pricing! But if they are non transferable how can they do this? Any insight would be appreciated.

It seems like most are selling the actual TM login/account itself.  That is how the scalpers get around it.

Guessing credit card info is irrelevant if they sell the TM account? Crazy
  • sd150448sd150448 Posts: 110
So many rules and guidelines and it can still be circumvented? Should be mandatory to have last 4 digits of credit card to match the account from which they were purchased then. Some orders can't be claimed without that info being provided. Seems there are still flaws if tix end up in hands of 3rd party profit organisations like that.

I don't think that would work given the time between purchase and concert.  Credit cards expire or get lost/replaced etc.

  • How can ticket Master let them do that? If in fact they sell the accounts?
If this is really happening I think Ticketmaster should be investigating ASAP

True but the account info carries over. Old card info is still stored. Purchases and balance carry over. The only way around it is to provide that or anything else unique to the original purchaser.

How will Ticketmaster know which accounts were sold?

Scalpers will find a way....but selling TM accounts has to be a major hassle for both parties.

I do wonder if Stubhub will adapt to this.  Now if you sell tix on stubhub that you haven't received yet the system will keep you from getting paid until the tickets are transferred and the buyer acknowledges receipt.  I guess the same thing could happen with selling a TM login on stubhub.  Buyer acknowledges that they were able to log in to obtain tickets and the deal is done.

Although....logging into the account would require an immediate password reset which would mean original buyer would get a text or email to approve the change.  Creates a major trust issue between buyer/seller

Scalpers always find a way to get tickets or access. Always happens. Impressed that the listings are smaller than usual.  Not impressed with the high prices. Oh and there are tons of scalpers in the 10C that will find a way to get around any restrictions.

Imo there will be a small amount of tickets from 10club members and the public sale/verified fan on the secondary markets. The only way to do this is to sell your email/ticketmaster account with the tickets or meet at the venue.

Going forward this is going to be a huge hole that is going to need to be fixed. It is very easy to buy a 10club membership and set up a throwaway TM account/email. This is going to be a huge problem going forward now we know the system for the 2nd leg I think.

That's sad! Hoping fan to fan will crush them all.

But 10club don't even know which seats we have yet? Hmmmm?

This was an issue most scalpers in Detroit got around when Kid Rock introduced the paperless ticket system years ago for seats up front.  Scalpers would make numerous new accounts and use Amex prepaid credit cards that anyone can buy at gas stations, grocery stores, etc. and sell the entire account that was used one time.  Once this became an issue, he just made all the up close tickets platinum tickets (which still some fell into the laps of scalpers, but most got burned on).  There's really no way around it other than to put names on the tickets and check ID's.  My Chemical Romance did this for their reunion show in Los Angeles but they still allowed AXS to sell almost half the tickets at premium prices....
