Ok folks what are the best tips to getting a poster at the venue. My last shows were the home shows and that was obviously easy, but the last time I was able to get one not on eBay was in 98.
Get there extremely early and waste your entire day in line.
I'll wait for 10c drop or ebay....not waiting in line anymore
This. Wasn’t like this until Wrigley 2013 I believe. I got my Chicago 98 poster leaving the show back in the day. Anyways, prepare to waste your day. I also do not wait for posters anymore, 5 hours in line at Wrigley did me in

If you miss at the merch line, be the first person in the venue. If you have reserved seating, sometimes this is actually easier than bothering with the merch line.
More importantly, what about tubes? Are they available? Accepted? Are we talking about virgin kraft paper or bleached white? There's a lot to think about.
figure our what’s more important missing pre show festivities and the fun that goes along with it, waste days waiting for them to drop online, or fork over cash to buy on eBay.
yes...there are always a few I believe. Also the artists drop the signed versions
Also incredibly hard to score the sought after posters on the ten club drops. Missed getting a missoula poster at the show and the drop. Not going to pay $300 for a $35 poster
It SEEMS like 10 club usually has about 300 posters from each show to make available in the shop. For regular tour dates, the artists usually get to make 100 available as AP's. The line for the outside merch booth is almost always massive, and takes several hours to get through. It's tough to get a poster on the day of the show, if you aren't willing to put in the time, unless you have a merch buddy that will swap days in line, or just likes to do that kind of stuff.

I've been GA at the last bunch which almost removes the get to the venue for doors and buy inside solution. This worked well at Seattle 2013. Lineup went around town for days before the show, but we showed up at doors, found a boot with a smaller lineup and got our stuff.
I am hoping with the smaller #'s of people at arena shows that the lines won't be as mental.
Get to the venue supper early. Buy as many as they will sell you. Go back to your hotel and take pics of the poster on your hotel bed then sell them on eBay before the show starts. just kidding. But the earlier the better.
Posters are yesterday’s big thing. PJ Fidget Spinners Impeachment Trial Edition. Limited quantities so get yours while they last.

I wouldn't mind waiting a couple hours on line for a poster if there was a certainty that they would still be available when I got to the front. But more and more I just prefer to pay up on ebay to avoid wasting my time and also avoiding how pushy and rude a crowd of fans can be when there is Pearl Jam merch for sale.

It also depends who I go to the show with... my wife will be cool with me hanging out early on the merch line while she checks out the city. If there with any of my friends, they have zero interest in merch and prefer we get some food and beers before the show. I fine either way... but lately I've been making the move to ebay to avoid wasting time and energy.

Please consider this. I did the line thing for the last time if 2013. Stood out in the freeze at the Seattle Center for a poster that I don't even like. Got sick, and the next day the same poster is sitting inside the warm showbox for sale. A little later it was available here in the shop too. I wasted hours, lost precious time before the show that night. That was it. Lesson learned. We were all like cattle lining up to eat/buy our "things." I jam (silly typos) proud to say I just recently acquired my 1 year poster free chip from "I have a poster problem." I am just focusing on the new music. I do not want to go back to poster rehab.

Be different & make a difference. Decency & kindness @ a grassroots level works.

yeah...reminds me of waiting for a few hours at WRigley then they sell out of a poster right before you get a chance to purchase....and then more posters come right after you walk out the door

STL 2014 was a Sh*t show. There was a small group of about 4 people that bought a ton of posters, stickers, and pins.

I get that people collect things, we all have our vices. However, I swear many of you poster nerds care more about them than the show itself.
