I am so sorry to hear this. It is heartbreaking. It seems like different states have different criteria and all it is doing is causing confusion. I know my state (NY) is having a lot of issues. My parents live in Maryland and they seem to be doing a better job. They both got their first dose last week, and already have appointments for their second dose. I am thankful for that. I was talking to my mother today and she was really glad that my father has great computer skills and was able to snag that appointment for the second dose. It is like an F5 situation. She was telling me that many older people are having trouble navigating the appointment system due to lack of computer skills. The whole thing is a nightmare.mfc2006 said:I talked to my Mom earlier today. She’s 78 and a cancer survivor of 4 years. Her health hasn’t been great since her treatments.
She broke down over the phone. Weeping uncontrollably because she has no idea when she will receive the vaccine. Her state (KS) and mine (MO) are doing a terrible job of providing the public with basic vaccine information. She’s terrified and lonely and it simply breaks my heart.

honestly, for the 70+ crowd, they should have set up a phone system like the cable company "if you'd like us to call you back when an operator is available, please press 1".GlowGirl said:

if it comes down to an online appointment, but 82 year old in laws will be screwed, unless we can do it for them.Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0 -
That’s great for your parents. I’ve heard the procedure to secure an appointment here is frustrating and initially ineffective, but once finally in it goes fairly quickly.GlowGirl said:

Yes. My parents got lucky. They did have to drive 45 minutes away to get the vaccine. But my dad said that it all went very smoothy once they got there. He was impressed by the efficiency. They did have one snafu in that they had gotten appointments a few days earlier for a place that was a 5 minute drive from their house. When they got there they were told that the place was only for health care workers. My dad said there was no indication anywhere on the website of this. At least they only went 5 minutes out of their way - but still. There needs to be a better way. I feel like my F5 skills that I learned here getting Pearl Jam tickets may come in handy when it is finally my turn (whenever the hell that will be).hedonist said:

The emotional and mental toll of this pandemic is terrible in addition to the actual illness.
She should be a high priority with her age and medical history, hope she gets it soon. This weekend we rock Portland0 -

I cannot imagine having twitter and following all of these fucking people and getting updates all day long.
My web interface with people is LinkedIn to prospective clients and partners - mostly sending video or text messages directly to them....or posting on an aged rock band's forum.
That is it - yet if I wanted to I could spend hours a day doing it. Need to leave time for work, family, exercise, reading, music, language, vodka, and perhaps some tv.
How in the hell do people balance twitter, being epidemiologists, emergency room doctors, statisticians, constitutional law experts, and rock band fans all at one time?

Unfortunately, I am not a policy maker, or an epidemiologist, or anything really. Just a regular guy trying to find some truth out of this whole thing. Lucky I don’t get my sole source of news from CNBC or I would be walking around with 4 masks on at all times. Because if two give me 75% efficacy, and three gives me 90% efficacy, then four must be at or above 100%. By the way, if those numbers are correct, I wonder the efficacy of one mask is.Halifax2TheMax said:
