“I know the girls want to dance

Away their circumstance

I know the boys want to grow

Their dicks and fix and file things”

What do you think this means? Does it mean in a very simply Girls have no hope And boys are morons? 

After listening to this again I do think this is a man bashing song and I am annoyed. Especially when you’re raising a young man.

    Having recently watched Charlize Theron in "Bombshell", its easy for me to hear this verse within the #metoo context. There seems to be a power patriarchy intonation. I wouldn't call it man bashing though. 

    When I interpret it in the context of my life, I perceive it ego-centrically and differently, as we all do! Maybe you are projecting in your interpretation?

    What kinds of things do boys file? Well, Stone files a lot of PJ memorabilia. Men file for divorce.

    Maybe boys want to file their nails sometimes, that happens.
