When DotC comes out tomorrow, what percentage of fans

will say this is the best song they have done in 15 years vs  this song is pure garbage? Honestly at this point, I am just looking for good fun songs to hear live.I think Lightning Bolt, MYM, Pendulum did that. Love Getaway but does not translate live

20 percent like it, 80 percent dislike.

I'm expecting an electro pop sound which hasn't, isn't and won't ever be PJ.  I feel like they're trying to hip and modern with shying away from the rock sound and its going to land with a thud.

I hope I'm wrong but that ten second clip didn't sound remotely like the band I love.

Im being honest.  Im probably 99% going to enjoy it unless it features Travis Scott rapping on a verse.

Still might enjoy it even then tho.

Hoping I will like it, still on the fence with the snippet that's out there

I really don't see the brief bit we've heard so far as being out of character for this band. It kind of sounds like "You Are" in particular. Maybe a couple other Riot Act era songs. And I highly doubt that every song on the record will sound similar if its farther afield from what I'm currently imagining.

There is no play for younger audiences. New rock music of the PJ variety is dead to the mainstream. They're probably not doing anything but trying to appeal to current fans and make tunes that they enjoy playing at this point.

If I'm wrong on this...they have pretty sound contemporary influences in the indie rock sphere. Particularly Jeff and Eddie. It's not like they'd be trying to emulate an Imagine Dragons record if they swung aggresively for a more moden sound. Could be fun. Critically acclaimed even. Lots of old hats will hate it though.

At most, I imagine I'll dig 3 or 4 songs off the record as I have in regard to all their latter career output at this point. Would love for Dance to be one of them as I'll definitely be staying up to hear it!

People were pretty vocal about their feelings for the Fixer, MYM, and Can't Deny Me. I'm guessing we will mainly get peoples true thoughts on it.

I agree, I meant good and bad. I recall most people were into MYM. The other two though....

I feel like the bridge is a little too cheesy, like the rest of the song tho

  • I have complete faith in this band.   They've clearly taken their time, had a bit of a re-think along the way and decided to mix things up a little - and more power to them.  I'm not expecting OK Computer-->Kid A here but after 10 albums I'm not going to begrudge them from breaking out a synth here and there.  No bongos is all I ask....

Riot Act was panned by most when it was released, on here.

It has grown into itself over the years if recent comments are to be believed.

To each their own. New music, about damn time.

Expectations are high, many want different things, I’m just hoping it’s a taste of something new and different.
  • I'm excited to hear it. I'm unsure if I'll like it, but I'm encouraged that the snippet sounds interesting and different, which is something that the last two albums lack IMHO.

  • I'm so excited to have new music. New thoughts from those brains put to music. Sounds good to me whatever it sounds like. One of my favorite things about PJ, is they have a spectrum of music. One song doesn't sound exactly like another.
  • I don't care what other people think.
I'll listen and I'll have my opinion.
    For sure I'm exciting
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”

    Also

Goes into thread asking about what other people may think
"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"
  • I think this will be the very definition of a 50/50 split.

I like the groove of the snippet but i worry about the tempo ... I have not enjoyed most of the mid-tempo songs from the last decade when played live (Can't Deny Me, Getaway, Amongst the Waves) .  Been much more into slow (Pendulum, Sirens, Speed of Sound) and fast (MYM, Gonna See My Friend, Got Some, Supersonic)

    I´m both excited and nervous.
Excited because my favourite band is dropping a new record and because the live shows will clearly benefit from some new blood.
But I´m also nervous because I so want it to be good and I'm afraid there'll be some duds (as are on the latest two records). I don´t mind if they try something new but the song really has to be there otherwise it doesn´t matter. I hope they still got it is all I´m saying!

I expect I’ll think it’s amazing right off the bat and then form a true opinion a few months later. I have a good shot at loving it all though. I love cant deny me, MYM and even like the Fixer.

Im a bit of a homer me thinks.
