I don't know why, but i'm not a big fan of this song. Ed doesn't sound like his usual self (even compared to the rest of Vs.)
I just count this one as the "experimental stuff". Throw it in the pile with Bugs, Push Me Pull Me, I'm Open, Around the Bend, Aye Davanita, the stuff they don't play a lot at shows. Your mileage will vary, but when I say "experimental stuff", fill it for what you think applies.
Anyway, I just have this stuck in my head:
Drop the leash. Drop the leash. Get outta' my fucking face.
Drop the leash. Drop the leash. Get outta' my fucking face.
Drop the leash. Drop the leash. Get outta' my fucking face.

leash is officially my favourite up-beat pj song. the "drop the leash, we are young!, drop the leash, we are young!" part actually gives me goosebumps. it is like a call-to-arms. i love this song. how can you not like it?"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0

Excellent song!
I remember writing those "Drop the leash, drop the leash. Get out of my fucking face" lyrics on a white t-shirt. I got some looks that's for sure:: Caesaria - Israel 1995, Wembley 1996, Manchester 2000, Leeds 2006, Manchester 2009, Manchester 2012, Manchester 2012 (EV), Leeds 2014, London 2018 ::0 -
To me, the chorus, "Drop the Leash", is as annoying has, "Evacuation".
I like the rest of the song, but the chorus should be reworked.
They should bring it back as a new song, like In my Tree, or Jeremy.Life reveals what is dealt through seasons

Leash always seems like an odd one to me... I have a bootleg of Pearl Jam from holland where the song sounds larger than life... they were on the Ten tour and eddie comes out and says, "our government, our parents and friends all put leashes on us. drop the leash, drop the leash, get out og my fucking face." then the song explodes. on the album is sounds small and distant... odd"It's the American Dream I am disbelieving... When the gas in my tank feels like money in the bank... I’m gonna blow it all this time, take me one last ride..." - Gone (vedder)0 -

Well, I personally like the way they put it in the album; I like how they start out distant, and then build up into the 'explosion' on the album. This song is one of my absolute favorite songs, but more because of the connection I personally make with it. Sometimes, I just feel so discouraged, and dragged down. Not to brag by any means, but I've recently been one to help a lot of people through their life issues. Like depression and suicide. Especially with that very special someone. Sometimes even I am considering giving up on it all, But this song seems to pick up my soul, get my strength back and take life head on. Half of the things that seem to 'drag us down' are things like our society. Not in all cases, but certainly in some (as I have experienced) even parents can be one of the largest contributing factors to dragging someone down. I can relate to this song a lot, and I think that is why I love it so much. Plus, it just plain old kicks ass!0 -

This is all a moot point as they do not play this live anymore."It's the American Dream I am disbelieving... When the gas in my tank feels like money in the bank... I’m gonna blow it all this time, take me one last ride..." - Gone (vedder)0 -
leash really is a kick ass song!!!"It was a kind of a sick, disturbed rock opera - if Nietzsche were to write a rock opera,"-Jeff Ament about Eddie's first three songs
I've had enough, said enough, felt enough, I'm fine now.

Leash rocks, man. I love the intensity. And yeah, it is a "freeing" song. Wish I could hear it live (wish I could see them live).
