I think so, I nearly pissed myself when I saw this thread.
However, PJ's version is the third best version I have heard.

This is my internet message board pet-peeve: people who start a thread in which they pose a question in the thread title...they say "discuss"....but they never give their own opinion on the subject. They just tell us to discuss it.
Tell me which version of Watchtower YOU like better Josh10376 and then I'll tell you which one I like. And what the heck does "SSIA" mean anyway?
why would someone post this here and expect someone to say Dave?

Because Dave's version is very good and non-biased people might think that it's actually better than Pearl Jam's. While PJ's Watchtower is awesome to experience live, I think Dave's arrangement is much cooler.
Pearl Jam's version is very similar that of U2's version. It's upbeat none climatic and just OK. I would rather see both bands sing their own songs.
The Dave Matthews version is very very good. It's groovy and just all around better. I would rather here DMB sing Watchtower over a lot of their own songs.
Funny, my wife and I are huge Dave fans and were just talking about this after MSG 1. We both agreed that Dave's version blows PJ's away. There is nothing special about PJ's version and it's unnecessary when you consider all the other covers they do so well -- Baba, Fuckin' Up, RITFW, Leaving Here. Their Watchtower is bland by comparison and it's been done to death by so many other bands.
Looking forward to seeing Dave in Hershey, hopefully my voice will come back by then.
neil young does a killer version with loads of feedback... I think the version neil did with pj was classic!
in 2001 I saw DMB in charlottesville va and neil opened for them (should have been the other way around)
Neil joined them for ATW and it was great. I was at SF III in 2006 when PJ did it and I call it a tie!!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
ride" ! Unknown
