I don't want an opener. If there is, then I'll just show up late to miss them or spend that time waiting in line for merch I guess. Unless the opener is Lana Del Rey... WHAT IF IT ISSS LANA DEL REY!?
I kinda wish there'd be an opening act. That's how I got into Sleater Kinney, My Morning Jacket, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Kings of Leon...all by seeing them live before a PJ show. It was always fun to see if Eddie would come out to do a song with them.

I've always enjoyed PJ giving some stage time to up and coming or little known bands. Looking at Jeff's year end list I know they listen to alot of great music and aren't just stuck in their pasts, It would be cool if they took out Angel Olsen or Sharon Van Etten or Blackmidi or someone hip, but looking to expand their audience and sell some records.
I know people view openers as time to get merch or drinks, but even as background music, live music is way more exciting than the classic rock PA tunes.
Give me SK, Thunderpussy, Lana Del Ray(new album is amazing) or someone random like the Deftones or Fiona Apple or Ben Harper (solo acoustic). I like the variety but also want a full 3 hour plus PJ set.
I just want shows and hopefully have 4-5 on the horizon. Cali tour!!!!!! Fuck yes!!!
The TM page for the Baltimore show (in the More Info section) lists the show lineup as Pearl Jam and Pluralone (RHCP's Josh Klinghoffer's solo project). Just for that 1 show.

They want us to stand in a Merch Line for 8 hrs instead! LOL In all seriousness though I think with the competing attention before the show for Merch Sales and the well established Wish List Pre-Parties that the band are aware of and support they might realize that a good part of the crowd may have their attention divided before the band goes on. I have seen some great openers like My Morning Jacket, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, and Bad Religion, but to be honest I don't miss having an opener that terribly much.
I won't change direction, and I won't change my mind - E.V.

Please no. Not sure whey people want this all the time when they haven't had an opener in years. And it's better this way. If you want to see a different band, there's always the option of going to one of their shows.

I'll be disappointed if there is an opener, really got used to An Evening with... Also, makes for a longer show, unless the opener comes on right on time, plays a short set, and then PJ comes on basically the same time that the normally would from before and play the same ~3h long show that they had been playing.

40 minute opener set at 7:30. PJ on at 8:40 for 2.5 hours for most shows. That's my guess.
Pretty obvious it will be Josh Klickendorffers band knowing his friendship with Mike, the tweet and the Baltimore tidbit. Bummer, I was hoping for an evening with...

If it means a mindblowing Of The Earth with Josh that's fine by me.

Maybe I could make my peace if it was with a great 90s band that cant sell out arenas this big anymore... think Candlebox
