Jealous of everyone with a James show on their list. Was out of town when they played by me. Rough when they're not in the US much.
James are such an amazing live act.  They rarely tour the U.S. because it is a big money-loser.  They only got a 60 minute time slot on the U.S. tour this past summer but it was still great to see them.

Tim, the singer, actually lives in the Los Angeles area....he teaches dance/movement classes around town.  It would be cool to take one of his classes if I were more of the dancing-type!
    Y'all keep talking about James.

Is this the same James that had an album called "laid" back in the 90's?

That's pretty cool. Does he do solo gigs at all? I'd settle for some acoustic versions of those songs.

Yeah, my pain is blunted by the fact they were co-headlining shows. The last time I remember them coming through, they sold out 2 nights at a 1,000 capacity club by themselves. So I thought the US was pretty good for them, but maybe not. They played over 2 hours which was great.

    In
my case definitely yes. Their records have been consistently good for years. I'd recommend millionaires. The show this year was a bit odd though, the crowd were there for the hits and they wanted to play the new album on the whole. Tim commented that the crowd was very flat and mentioned that maybe it was because it was a Monday night in Cambridge. It certainly wasn't the best show I have seen them play.

That's them. Anything besides Laid is cult status but they are a tremendous band. In case you're interested, their Best Of really is a good entry point. I started there and plucked albums based on which songs hit me first.
