Question about end of Betterman

She loved him, yeah. She don't want to leave this way.
She feeds him, yeah. That's why she'll be back again.

do you think eddie is just sarcastically saying..." ok yeah, fine, did love him" ...i actually have no idea, and was hoping someone could give their interpretation of it. i have to write a paper on an iterpretation of a song, and i thught betterman would be relatively easy (which is was) im just having trouble figuring out this last part

    sarcasm, no.

she does love him. he doesn't love her.

the song is about how she oscillates between loving him and wanting to leave him because she wants (needs) a life that is more complete/full...a life in which love for her (by him) has a place. her relationship with him is devoid of love in her direction...it's a one way street...but she can't leave because she thrives (however unhealthy) on giving her love to him, even though he doesn't return it...and what would be worse for her (in her psyche; again, however unhealthy) than not only not being loved, but also not being able to give her love...and that's why she needs him...and that's why she'll be back again.

And no one sings me lullabyes
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky....
  • i don't think that way....
don't really understand what he means though...

but i've always thought that she doesn't love him.... anymore.
she's just afraid of leaving him because she thinks that she can't find a better man. and that's why she's staying.

well... i don't know.. but anyway,,

    good night people.

    Can't find a better man...
    Good-bye for now.
  • the lyrics there are very depressing contrary to how the song sounds there.

I think its about her dependancy on a complete life and relationship situation and her inability to get out of a bad relationship. you see this problem a lot.

kind of like what DS said :)
Come on pilgrim you know he loves you..

I´ve always imagine this song like this: There´s this woman who is in a relationship with a guy that goes out every night and leave her alone (i´ve always thought that he has some kind of addiction). She´s sick of this relationship but she loves him and she knows that if she goes away he´ll be lost...
