    easiest way to get it is on RVM (Greatest Hits). however, this is a remix and not the original version.

    I personally prefer the original (less added effects). Original version is on the movie "Singles" soundtrack
    I remember when I thought i knew everything..

    I didn't know that SOLAT was remixed for RVM?! I thought it was just Once, Alive and Black?

    The version on RVM is not remixed it is just a different version than the one found on the Single soundtrack

    DEFINITELY the 'Singles' version. I just do not like the wooshy vocal effects on the G.H version!!

    Coolest song! I love the Unplugged, but I have to say I like the Singles version best... it got to me first. Screaming Trees, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Soundgarden... now that's an album... *orgasms*

    The RVM version is the version from the movie, not the soundtrack, and the EFlow is the single/video version. It's a different(and much better) recording.

    I don't really like the version that's on RVM.
    These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

    the best version i have heard of this song is definately the 94 atlanta version, eddie has so much rage during this version, esp when he sings the whooo at the beginning an the shouting of the 'yeah yeah!' before the solo. man i love this song

    Every version of the lyrics I can find on the net has these lyrics to start but I've always heard it as "Sin Fein prays and preaches but they have an empty core."

    It comes across as Ed's take on the situation in Ireland (Sin Fein is the militant arm of the IRA).

    Can anyone point me to an official lyrics book or site coz after believing this forever it's going to take a lot to convince me otherwise.

    Also, can anyone tell me if State .. was written from Stone's original legendary demo tape? As far as I can remember it had 5 tracks. Ed wrote Footsteps, Alive and Once from 3 of them but since State was one of the very first songs for PJ maybe it was from one of the other two?

    there are actually slight changes to almost half the songs on RVM. Once Alive and Black are all that are officially acknowledged, really, but listen close to the rest of the album (I mean REALLY close...)

    My 3rd favorite PJ song. I like how Eddie sang it vintage, though, with the anger. That's really where I feel the emotion of it.
