Rock Wretcher - previous festival goers

Any previous attendees have any advice for a 1 day ticket holder?

Good places to stay, prefer Brussel?
How hard/easy getting back to Brussels after Pearl Jam?

  • I have the exact same questions.

  • I would advise you to book hotel in Leuven (Louvain) because there's free bus transport after Pearl Jam. Check also Rock Werchter website for this. To get to Brussels after the Pearl Jam slot will be difficult.
  • I stayed in Leuven in 2018. There is a shuttle bus from the festival to Leuven which is really easy to take. Leuven is a nice small city. Some nice hotels there. Also stayed there after Guns N’ Roses played in Werchter in 2017.

in 2010 we stayed in Brussels.  Just missed the last train back so like 100+ others slept in the train station until like 6am for the next train.
Probably best to stay in Leuven, or have a car.
  • It's a late finish so I don't know if you'd make it back to Brussels unless you have a car. I usually sleep in the car and leave the next morning.

  • Ok,

so fuck Brussels. Stay in Leuven. Free shuttle busses go back and forth all day - late at night.
If you buy a festival ticket with the regular ticket vendor you'll get a free code by email for a return train ticket from any station in Belgium to Leuven. (not included is the extra airport diabolo-tax from Brussels airport, but that's just a few euro's) Limited to a day before and after the festival.
There is also the option to rent a tent at the Werchter Campground or bum your way into someone else's.
We usually have a spare tent set up on our spot that gets used by multiple people who just crash for 1 day instead of 4.  =)
You need a wristband to get in the campground but those sometimes get passed around also...  ;)

    Thanks everyone for the info!

I booked in Leuven Getaway Studio.  A bit pricey but we also have to catch out flight back to Australia the next day, so worth it for the peace of mind!

So the shuttles run late and often between fest and Leuven?

Accomodation in Leuven is not worth money, if you stay only one Day at the Festival , choose for example the novotel at Brüssel Airport. If you are Like 4 people ,you can take a taxi back to the novotel.
The taxi will BE around 100 Euros.
