  • It’s impossible to rank Pearl Jam songs. Everyday brings a different feeling and a different favorite.

    Always at the bottom.

    Mankind
    Whale Song
    Sweet Lew
    Last Kiss (cover but horrible)
    Black Red Yellow

    all tied for last.

    Peace,Love and Pearl Jam.

I stopped reading after I saw Smile and Immortality in the 50s with Leatherman ahead of them.

Either that or it's the 25th anniversary of the release of Vitalogy.

I agree, it changes often.  And quite frankly, who cares?  Music is different to each person.  There will never be an end to the argument of best ever anything when it comes to art.  What needs to end is the argument itself.  It's subjective and as long as it touches you emotionally, that's all that matters.  Your opinion is as good as the opinion of the person next to you.

This list (like many) is a mess. I'd rather read about a more objective, definitive list as oppose to some random writer's favourite. Sure, it might have the usual suspects from Ten, Vs, and Vitalogy in the top 10 but (as stated above) having songs like Immortality so far down and Unthought Known so far up doesn't make any (objective) sense.

I guess we can argue this until the cows come home - or until the next tour.

I'm surprised this kind of list gets published any longer.  Sure, fans make lists like these on forums like this but who's ever had one published?   Nah.

I wouldn't put covers if I made a list. And I've been thinking about doing one

I've done one in the past, too. It changes slightly from time to time but my "top 5" has held firm for a number of years now. With this said, I'm not sure where to put many of the "war horses" (e.g., Even Flow, Jeremy, Yellow Ledbetter, Porch, Why Go, and Small Town) that are sort of played out for me but I still can't deny their greatness/importance in the band's history.
