New interpretation for Corduroy

I was sitting in my Spanish 4 AP class today at school, and we were talking about how words from any language are found today in the English language. Well, my spanish teacher happened to mention that the word "corduroy" comes from the french word meaning "cordrois" (don't know how to spell it), but anyway, it basically refers to a group of people that are always loyal and support the king in France. When I heard this, I started to think about how maybe Eddie also thought the title was appropriate, bc ppl worshipped him at the time, and he was fed up with ppl saying they loved him when they didn't even know him. Any thoughts on this?

That's actually the meaning of the song...
    see
"It is about a relationship but not between two people. It's more one person's relationship with a million people. In fact, that song's almost a little too obvious for me. That's why instead of a lyric sheet we put in an X-ray of my teeth from last January and they are all in very bad shape, which was analogous to my head at the time." -Eddie Vedder (Los Angeles Times, November 20, 1994)
