The words mean a lot to me,

I really love them, some songs are like poems. I don't have to understand I can just dream away for a moment, the words are beautiful and thoughtful.

My personal reflection is that in some songs there is a lot of pain or sorrow behind the words, but I think that the songs really are mostly about love.

I know! Im some lyrics you can feel the pain.
And understand little what they are about...and in some lyrics you feel that YOU could have written it. Cause it get so personal.
but it's much more fun to speculate and interpret them yourself.

Indeed, what I like so much about Pearl Jam is the fact that the meaning of their songs is often not straight forward (at least not for me ). I can read a lyric so often without really understanding it. And then suddenly I "clicks",you have found your own interpretation and everything matches; the words, atmosphere of the song,...

To me, the lyrics are what moves a song beyond "catchy" to being great.

I was a casual PJ fan until I saw my first show. Then, I started reading lyrics on theskyiscrape.com and it was over. I was blown away at how strong the lyrics were to songs. Before, there were many songs that I only knew the hooks to.

i agree, pearl jam's lyrics are so powerful and amazing. that and their talent is what makes them the best band ever in my eyes

the music is the reason you get into this band, but the lyrics are the reason you learn to love this band...nothing left to say.
