Oh yeah, Morant is out for the year.  Ho hum.
It's a shame. That team is quite competitive with Ja on the floor. Could have made the west playoffs that much more interesting.

lol like X and Wobbie said, the "missed" 3 pointers are a tough swallow and watch for me nowadays.

I wouldn't mind the NBA getting rid of it TBH.  a lot of the play is boring as hell.  Zero ball movement and spot shooters waiting to let it fly... and he missed.  Again...

good question….I dunno where I stand….it is undeniably painful to watch some team brick three after three….there are only a handful of true three point shooters, and a whole bunch of pretenders.

Move the 3-line back and get rid of the "side of the court" shot which is a shorter distance and has become a sabrmetrics hack.

I like the abundance of 3's. Why take a long 2, when you can step back and get an extra point behind the line? It just makes sense. Creates more spacing than where was twenty years ago when they took half as many attempts.

To me, the bigger issue in the game is defenders not being allowed to hand check and how every little thing is a foul.

Twenty years ago is also when hand checking was outlawed, coincidentally.

I'd like to see a blending of the two eras. You'd likely still have more scoring, but the defense will definitely not be as atrocious as most of it is nowadays.

Well yeah, with the rules being what they are it totally makes sense that teams shoot a ton of 3's. That's why I say make it harder to change the calculus, and you'll see more shooting all over the floor.

    Amen to most of this.

I know I'm on the outskirts but I love seeing good D.  I love a nice rejection and I love a good steal and a breakaway score...

    Hand Check yes.

What about widening the court?  Too extreme?  I thought about moving the 3 back too and no side shots but I think the straight away 3's are easier.

Watched the Lakers game last night against Dallas.

The Lakers can play amazing some times, last night was one of them.  Healthy they are good.  I know they will never be 100% healthy come playoff time...

the last great D played in league was prob the 2005 Finals Spurs/Pistons, Game 7, 81-74

Spurs reached 102 pts in one game.....everything else under 100

I still watch hoops, but I miss old school days....

Those low scoring games in late 90's early 2000's could get boring in my opinion. . You can have good defense and still able to score over a hundred.

Back in the 80's and early 90's teams still played better D but scoring averages were close to where they are now...
