One of the very greatest drummers that's ever lived. End of an era!

Oh no! I had read that he was sick about a week ago, but this makes me sad.

He played a large part in the soundtrack of my life.... all those he influenced...

Thank you for  your genius & the music it inspired, we will always have you when it's played.

One of the greatest.   He could be mean at times, he was a bit crazy, but he always spoke his mind, was forthright and never backed down, and oh man, what a great drummer.  Sad news this morning.

    R.I.P. Ginger Baker.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

Thanks Brian for introducing me to the “Beware of Mr. Baker” documentary. Call him a shitty human being blah blah blah, maybe he was just a new soul on this planet. I always admired his authenticity.

Here is the doc just incase you haven’t seen it...it’s great...

I was lucky enough to see Ginger perform at the 2014 Montreal Jazz Festival. Pee Wee Ellis (James Brown) was in the band, and it was fantastic. They mostly played straight up jazz and a little Afrobeat. It was in a small theatre and I was in the 2nd row. One of those shows I will never forget.
