I always thought Davanita was a girl/woman's name.

  • it's simply an expression.... like, "oh, davanita."

just a simple song with a simple expression, but the repetition makes it so unique and powerful.

    "oh, davanita"

when people get hit by something, or frustration arises, they tend to say, "Aye!" just like you would in english, "ow!" or "oh!" or "aww" anyways, you get the picture. I'm guessing they were frustrated with a some girl named Davanita making huge amount of mistakes. so they keep saying "aye, davanita/aye, davanita"

not unless it means something else, but other than that, if it's in spanish that's what it should literally mean.

  • yes I'm pretty sure what they meant by it was like "yeah davanita", davanita being a name. it makes for a groovy instrumental (the only pearl jam song I can really say has a great groove) but it would have been even cooler if it was a song with lyrics with like a really long intro or something.
