Original Pressing vs. Reissue

Is there really a difference between Original Pressings and Reissue records?

I only have the reissues and was wondering if the price for OP is worth it.

Ten vs vitalogy are especially loud on reissues.

Def a difference imo, but it depends on which album.  That’s what makes vinyl interesting, there’s a ton of variables at play.

Price is worth it if you’re really into sound quality.
If not stick with the repress

    Ten OP definitely sounds better

I find Ten, Vs, and Vitalogy sound much better in original pressings. The reissues for those records sound very "flat" with little to no dynamic range in comparison.  My original Ten is beat up pretty bad but it still sounds way better than the lifeless 2011 release with the Sepia toned jacket. I was disappointed to hear that the newer release of Ten with the original Purple/Pink jacket used the same disc/master as the 2011 Sepia release (minus the BoB remix).
The reissues for No Code and Yield, sound pretty good, not far off from the originals IMO. I will often spin the reissues of those albums to give my originals a break.
I've heard good things about the reissues of Binaural and Riot Act, I never did get the re-releases to compare.
I did do a A-B test with my buddy's reissue of ST (Avocado), neither is exceptional as they are both mixed pretty loud, but the original gets a slight edge IMO.

Also, the mix on the s/t reissue is totally different than the original.

I have a few of the originals and think that the both VS and Vitalogy are more lively in the original vs the repress.  I find the repressings to be a bit dull.

This, definitely a difference. There are actually differences in different cuts of the reissues.

CD or vinyl cover? Which is better? Wonder why the LP cover is slightly different? Was this ever explained?

OG Vs. and Vitalogy are noticeably better than the reissues. If you’re into audio quality it’s worth it.

@MedozK might be able to lend some insight into that.

I was at a record shop yesterday and they had a sealed original pressing of Binaural. They wanted $300 for it. I considered it for a minute - but I am happy with my reissue. Had it been an original Vs I would have gone for it.
