I'm addicted to "Black"

I cannot get enough of this song right now. I've listened to it four times in a row and I'm gonna keep going.

figure I'll be burnt out on it eventually.

I just discovered that it isn't.

    It never gets old.

"i know someday you'll have a beautiful life
i know you'll be the sun
    in somebody else's sky
    but why, why WHY
why can't it be, why can't it be MINE?"

    I love that part.

Black was the song that really REALLY fell me in love with Pearl Jam. When I saw the MTV Unplugged...I video taped it and would watch Black over and over. LOL of course it has been many many years since I've done that..
I have not burned out on the song yet...even for all the emotional content it has for me, it is still a favorite of mine.
  • Black is my favorite song of all time. I have a playlist on itunes that is just 40 some different versions of it that i constantly playing when i am home. But i used to play it to fall asleep but i couldn't resist the urge to get up and sing along so i lost out on a lot of sleep. I'm actually listening to it right now at work. i don't think i could go a day without Black.

Black Is the best song off an amazing album, you could never get bored of the emotion in this.
    Never a truer word spoken.

PS: The Indifferent One, Your signature is great :) I can relate.

It's a great song but I wouldn't say it's the best off ten, for me alive is the best song on that album. Purely for my own personal reasons I grew up thinking someone was my dad and found out that my real dad died when i was living the charade.

oceans and garden are better? are you shitting me? IMO those are the worst songs on the album.

yes, release comes close but doesn't quite unseat black for me.

My favorite version of this song is when Ed improvises the "We Belong Together!!!!!!!" ending. The perfect version is on the "Alive and Kickin' '95" Bootleg. Fuckin' brillient.

    p.s. 999 and counting!

no, you can't burn out on it. it's not possible. to burn out on something it has to be something that is able to be burnt out. black is not one of those things.
