There is the story from Eddie in an interview about going onto the forum and private messaging a user correcting him/her on his/hers wrong interpretation of the State of Love and Trust lyrics.
EDIT: Was suppose to quote @yield2me but whatever.

I believe said person argued that Ed was wrong as well. I think that's how the story went.
-edit- I'm sure they all, at times view these boards whether they admit to it or not. Well, maybe not Boom but the rest most likely do on occasion.

I don’t think it would be very healthy to be a band member on this board. A bunch of people posting (myself included) knowing about 10% of what we think we know.
I could see the fellas randomly popping on. With all the request threads seems as though Ed is reading them/receiving them.

If I, as a member of Pearl Jam, saw the sense of entitlement amongst the people on this forum, I would be very disappointed in this fan base.
I see people loving a band and wishing to see them play live again. Call it entitlement all you want but this forum for the most part loves these guys and can't wait for the new album to drop/tour to start.
That was when it was free. He’s not shelling out $20 a year to post these days.
Post of the year.

They may also recognize that these are the people that helped make them filthy rich. Entitled, sure, but they also pay a lot of money for a service. PJ is a monopoly but making things more convenient for the customer is nice too.

Fandom is the next logical outgrowth of "You didn't build that!" Maybe that is what Bernie is explaining to Ed here:

I would definitely visit, maybe troll a few users from time to time. In the thread where you post your collection, just put some one of kind items mixed in with a framed nutsack vulture

LMAO my thoughts exactly. Seems like a comedy goldmine for band members

Woudn't surprise me if they do. I mean, this is their life. And with PJ in wind-down mode these last few years, they probably have more free time than most adults of working age.

I don’t think they do often. But I bet once in a blue moon they check things out. I doubt they sit around and talk about it. But sure, why not. Especially when they’re touring I bet they read some feedback.
