alive and yellow ledbetter are definately up there
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

    Some die just to live.
  • well alive is definetely the longest of mike's solos, excpet maybe the improv live versions of corduroy and rockin' in the free world.

I still think corduroy and not for you would have been even better if they had been given longer solos on their album cuts.

  • "black" hardly counts as a solo even though I like it a lot.

especially since eddie is singing and moaning etc. during it.

I really think some of mike's best work has not been done with pearl jam. It seems they stifle him a little for instance I love the jam solo on reach down (temple of the dog) and November Hotel (mad season) then his cover of maggot brain.

As for his pearl jam work....

The live Even Flow's are good, the end solo on black is always good. Immortality always sounds awesome. I enjoy hearing him tear it up on Red Mosquito and 1/2 full. All or none has a lot of soul to it. lots of good ones i wish they would let him air it out a little more on the albums.

I Am Mine may be his most fitting solo.. pertaining to the lyrics it is very "Triumphant!" of the recent stuff this is my fav solo by mike
"There are teams that are fair-haired,and those that aren't so fair-haired.Some teams are named Smith, some Grabowski. We're Grabowskis."-Mike Ditka, January 1986

"i am mine" is another one I would hardly call a solo as well.

but then again maybe live it has a great solo.

I know "corduroy" and "not for you" live both have huge-ass solos that were included in shorter versions on the album versions.
