I just heard...

...the most whacked out version of "jeremy". it was fucking cool.

it has like a one minute intro with a cool riff that isn't in the album version. eddie sings the lyrics different than usual, much slower pace, and it steadily builds up in the manner that "release" does, with the slow pace and all, and ed never sings the chorus.

weird.

it's like 6 minutes long too.

fucking awesome. my only wish is that at the climax, instead of doing the moans from later in the song, that eddie would have screamed :jeremy spoke in...class today!"
everything has chains
absolutely nothing's changed
take my hand, not my picture
spilled my tincture...

I bet you're referring to the 06.20.95 version of Jeremy that was played at Red Rocks. Right click and "Save Target As..." to listen to this version: http://www.fivehorizons.com/songs/aug99/5h_jer.mp3

I love the 'new' version of Jeremy. they played it twice that way, but 6/20/95 is the popular one.

wow, listening to it right now. awesome! totally different.
  • The first time I heard Jeremy sung this way - I didn't recognize the riff. I thought, wow, this is funky. It was just an unexpected change-up for a song that is instantly identified by the first few notes.

  • The DVD of Red Rocks is incredible. The crowd looks all confused until Eddie starts singing.

It sort of reminds me of a "huh?" moment when the audience thinks they know what the song is but in actuality - it's something different or new. This happened to us when Eddie was doing "Arc" live at the San Diego show.
