Cool! I saw him in the late 90's with Ringo and his All-Star Band. He was never really on my radar before then but I was shocked by his performance and abilities.

Saw him on his own tour the next year. That was the show that the "Live From Detroit" DVD came from. Another amazing experience.

Now, over 20 years later, I was lucky enough to catch him again at the same venue. Since then, he has worked with Mike McCready and Matt Cameron, made an incredible instrumental version of "Black Hole Sun" (which he played and did a very moving tribute to Chris Cornell) and released a killer blues album (among other things. He's a hard working guy!) If there ever was a top level, well rounded guitarist, he would be a strong contender for the best of the best.

Sad that he is not well and is done touring after this run. I feel so fortunate to have seen him a few times over the years and witnessed a true legend at the peak of his abilities.

I still have my vinyl of that.  Played it soooo many times.

And dudeman, I love that Black Hole Sun version; just gorgeous.  I'm sorry to hear he's not doing well; I wasn't aware of that.

He has a degenerative muscle disease. IBM, I believe. He had been falling down on stage and finally went to the doctor. That was the diagnosis.

Since then, he's begun the farewell tour, recorded three albums and is working on a fourth.

In a guitar mag interview he said he wanted to get as much music out as possible while he could still play up to his standards.
