    A saliva test works great for adoptive kids who just want to know what nationality they are.  Did that for our daughter.  She just wanted to belong and to say, "I am . . . "  We didn't have any background (county kid) to give to her and that was a big save for her in middle school.  A week after we received the results, she ended up having a family tree project.  Made that project a bit more tolerable for a kiddo who could only scrounge up a few roots and a broken limb for hers.
