1990’s bands - Canadian edition

in Other Music
the 1990’s were great for music in Canada and I’m happy I got to grow up during that time. I’m starting this thread to share the love for Canadian rock bands of the 90’s
my personal favorites ...

Wide Mouth Mason

the Trews (close enough)

and in in the summer you could go to a festival and see at least half these guys play all in one day. Man it was good times

    ...plus The Ghandarvas had an awesome tune ("First Day of Spring") and Bran Van 3000's "Drinking in LA" was pretty funky.

    I’m hearing Bran Van 3000’s “Drinking in LA” a lot lately on one of my local stations, TheZone.fm. Tbh, I did not realise that they were Canadian.

    I will get alot of flack for this, but Nickelback in 1998 and 1999/00 had two really good rock albums: Curb and The State

    I would agree.  A friend of friend used to be the dummer of nickelback.  I saw a few shows in their early bar days, and playing a few bigger local shows during those first 2 albums.   I really did like them.  Then they got a little more polished.  I think they broke through internationally on the 3rd album.

    Funny thing is I have an autographed cd copy of the original curb release on my shelf, as I got them all to sign it when we checked out a bar show when they opened for the barstool profits at UVIC.  Gets me zero bragging rights.. lol....

    Sons of Freedom are a forgotten band.  Still have “The Criminal” in heavy rotation on my playlists. 
    I still say SOF and (especially) Slow were big influences on the Seattle music scene in the late 80s
