Mmm, Wide awake and he shakes in a panic. Never woke up alone ever before.
Had his woman long as he can remember. Tries to forget but he can't, he can't.
Out of bed and he dreams in the shower. She's standing naked and apologizing.
Reaches for her till his mind becomes blood hot. Woken up to be burned burned again.

On the streets he's walking wounded. Doesn't smile for the child at play.
Thoughts of suicide and alleviation. Anything to get his heart off of the coals.
Does he fly away or just talk about it? Like a seagull born to cry in the wind.
Own experiences lead to a younger. All-alone you will meet the one who lies in wait.

OMG Alone would have to be THE most underrated PJ rocker out there. So much energy, great vocals by ed, what a great song. hope they bring it back for the upcoming tours, hopefully they will since it made lost dogs

    The boys played Alone at the VFC show in St. Louis and it blew the roof off the dump!

    I don't know if I posted this poem here before, but this is "Inspired by Pearl Jam's Alone." I posted it on the poetry thread:

    On the stairs between first and second floors
    she stops a breath between past and future.
    She resumes after the pause consciously
    thinking of this evening's dinner menu.

    Within a prepared guest room she removes
    his items from a labeled container.
    She burns the contents and places remains
    in a tray next to cigarette lighters.

    Smoke in her eyes causes isolated tears.
    Tired, she covers her face with her hands.
    She revisits years of wrestled regrets
    as stray grey hair brushes her next gold ring.

    I live this song.
    My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
