    It's about a guy who blew it with a girl..
    maybe he cant get over it...he's become a nothingman...
    The story is told backwards in my opinion..
    Open with his current state, with the 2nd verse talking about
    the dissolution...

    Amazing song...poignant...

    I looked up this song on songmeanings.net, and someone had an interesting interpretation:
    I always thought this song was about Eddie...after his girl dumped him..(see "black")...and moved out west to jam with the band...

    (flew out west "into the sun")

    someone notices he his down...and asks..."what's wrong?"

    "Nothing Man"

    He is trying to put it behind him...but can't get it out of his mind...

    isn't it something?

    contrast nothingman and present tense. Nothingman is about a man stuck on his past and his regrets. In present tense, he learns to accept his mistakes and forgives himself. Great songs.
