The reason I am so partial to Vitalogy and No Code were during those albums releases, I was in college and had long term relationships that were ending. Songs like Nothingman,Betterman,Off He Goes,Who You Are,In My Tree,Smile,Not For You,Hail Hail,Red Mosquito just really made me think and reflect on a lot of things in my life, mostly that needed to change. I know others have reasons why they are partial to one or two albums more than others...let people know...barring being too personal.

  • No Code simply because of I'm Open, "He decided to dream, dream up a new self, for himself". In the end I did just that
A restaurant with a smoking section is like a swimming pool with a pissing section
  • For me it was mainly Ten and Vitalogy. I could just identify with a lot of the songs, and it made me realize that I wasnt the only one feeling the way I did. That is why Ten is my favorite album of all time. :)

    TEN
    *Once
    *Alive
    *Black
    *Porch
    *Release

    VITALOGY
    *Not for you
    *Nothingman
    *Corduroy
    *Betterman

And I learned that I was a liar
    Just like you
  • for me its Yeild:

Songs that for very personal to me:

    Given to Fly
    MFC
    Low Light
    In Hiding
    Don't need a raincoat, I'm already wet..
  • I think TEN is a masterpiece!!! You know... songs like Release, Once, Jeremy, BLACK (of course!), Alive...man, they just kick ass! Some of them changed my life...

And VITALOGY another great album, I love Tremor Christ, Corduroy, Nothingman, Whipping, Betterman... alll of them with such a great lyrics....

    They rule!!!

for me it is Yield..... when that came out, I had just moved to the other side of the country for work, and I didn't know anyone there..... found comfort in that album, and still do!
  • Ten- for all of the memories associated with high school and how ridiculous everything was, how fast things were changing. it was nice to have that friend that was Ten.

Yeild- it is the one cd that i have on me at all times, just in case. It is a true motivater, a true comfort.

well, i'm not exactly sure why but yield helps me out all the time. its not one particular song or songs but the whole thing in general. it puts me into a great state of mind. its comforting, inspiring, relaxing and makes me generally happy every time i listen to it no matter how shitty my day is going. its the most satisfied i ever feel after listening to an entire album from start to finish.

Just like my comfort blanket...I agree.

That's exactly how I would categorize it! The last two studio albums have a darker "Vitalogy" feel to them.

Yield is very optimistic...so was the tour.

  • Hmm, i think all the albums help me through things. If i was feeling down i would probably put no code or yield on first. But the thing i think has helped me through the most is SVT, seriously, that is such inspirational film, i absolutely love it.

  • No Code - I dont know why I never had anything traumatic or life changing event happen to me. However I have a connection with this album that never fades, maybe its my character or my thoughts on life that are also reflected in this record.

I find myself to be a quiet reflective person, unlucky in love who can be taken advantage of perhaps.

I think it is this that which comes across from the songs in No Code, especially in My Tree, hail hail, present tense.

This and the simple fact that No code is musicallyand lyrically beautiful, especially SMILE

  • I think I'd have to say each of them have gotten me through different times in my life...particularly rough ones...happy ones...and just plain fucked up times.

I think I would have to go with 'Vitalogy' if I had to pick just one...

'Corduroy' hits me hard even now after I've heard it a billion times

    'Nothingman' is also touching

'Not For You' really gets me when I'm a bit angry

'Tremor Christ' is one of my all-time favorites

usually I just pop it in and listen all the way through, as with every PJ record/bootleg...they all hold some significance to each and every one of us...like Ed said once...

"I hate to tell what a song is about because the fans kind of take part 'ownership' and they have a different meaning to each of them, so it would be unfair to them to say what we meant by it."

    great thread...cheers.
