  • This song is either about the press that constantly hounded ed describing them as bugs getting into his personal space, or a song about escaping from temptation, drugs perhaps. Along the same lines as Red Mosquito was.
"This is a public service annowncement... with guitars!!"
  • I believe it has to do with Bugs as in invasion of their private space, caused by media and press. Just my opinion.

".....this land is mine, this land is free
i'll do what i want, but irresponsibly
    it's evolution baby...."
  • I think Bugs is about someone with a mental condition, where they see things that aren't there, the "bugs" invade their space and make it hard to function normally. The bugs are just a figment, created by that person's insanity.

This seems to make sense since the background is repetitive and dominating, just like the condition itself would be.

    Sound good?

that's what i always thought as well
  • I agree with the privacy idea. I think it has to do with the whole fans/media/music industrial complex:

"should I fight them?..... Should I join them? Yeah I think thats the one."
I think the song is talking about the concept of being swept up in the publicity machine that is associated with being famous. And obviously there is apprehension to this new condition, but (and I think this is expressed in the song) its inevidable.

Therefore, I think the bugs represent the overwhelming media-machine of the music industry wich is so large and monolithic that you cant escape it.
"Sould I trick them? I dont think their dumb."

    But thats just my interpretation.
"A new breed of people with their sudden wealth have stimulated pride and unrestraint in you, O Florence, made to weep so soon."
