Sticky Fretboard???

I just got my new Gibson SG Special back from being set-up, and from about the 14th fret up the board is sticky making bending a pain in the ass. The rosewood fretboard was treated with oil. I've done a little bit of research online. but all they really said was to wipe and rub with a cloth. Is it possible the oil is the culprit. Maybe the oil wasn't given enough time to dry?
Any of you more experienced players have any thoughts?
