well they had had it already by the summer of '75.  they couldn't go back to the greasers. I'd say no they did not reconcile.

They got a divorce as a matter of course and they parted the closest of friends.

That's all I heard about Brenda and Eddie

Many times when I went to my Dad's house as a young kid I watched the VHS double cassette video tapes of Billy Joel's greatest hits which included "Uptown Girl" and "Allentown". Dad's seemed fascinated with Billy Joel in the 80's and even early 90's. Even listened to a carpool dad explain to me the "meaning" behind "We didn't start the fire".

Around five years ago I heard "Italian Restaurant" for the first time. Again, it was introduced to me from another "Dad". My late stepdad Jim decided to forego chemo one Christmas so we could all enjoy it together one last time. On Christmas Eve he hooked his laptop up to the surround speakers and huge television and Jim and I were the last soldiers standing. We drank Tennessee Honey and took turns playing songs for each other from our favorites. I played some Pearl Jam and many others which he totally appreciated. He mostly played Chicago but the only other song I remember him playing that night was "Italian Restaurant". We sat there and soaked it all in. I remember telling him...what a masterpiece. That has been my favorite Billy Joel song ever since. Brought to me by the "southern" Italian ... R.I.P. Jim... Cheers to you Jim and that same bottle of Tennessee Honey still remains on top of my fridge.

    Italian Restaurant for the win!!!

Cool that you had some time with Jim like that and have this song to make you, always, feel some of that.
    Music is awesome.

    Scenes From An Italian Restaurant
What a strange result. I'm surprised. I don't think Scenes from an Italian Restaurant is anywhere close to the best song on this album. Still good, but... Movin' Out is better IMO, and other songs on the album are better than either of the two finalists. No accounting for taste, I know.

Thanks for sharing that story. Music is such a powerful force. People who would never meet are drawn to each other because of music.

With loved ones, there are songs and artists that can bring back memories and this is such a beautiful memory that you have with your late stepdad. I'm so glad that you hold it close, you will always have that night with him. I'm sorry you lost him.

I love it that you do these.  They're fun, the personal stories that go with the music are cool, and they motivate me to at least check out some stuff I ignored or didn't give much thought to.  Thanks, man!
