@Better Dan and @White Discussion should be able to chime in and give some advice. I'm a native Texan, but only went to SA for concerts, to be honest.
    I LOVE MUSIC.

I was at a wedding with my boyfriend in Texas in 1995 and we spent a day and two nights in SA.

It was beautiful on the River Walk. Maybe a nice place for Dinner with your wife and for a nice walk.

Very romantic! Definitely one of my best memories from our 3-week trip to the United States.
Thank you for this reminder. I searched the internet for pictures… it was not that crowded back then.
    The Alamo was nice too.

Texan's like it when you knock their cowboy hats off their head.

Not a Texan, but spent a week long vacation there in 2017. River Walk is a fun, neat place. You can walk through or if you have time can take one of the boat rides. There's shopping, dining, and late night stuff there, but it can get pretty busy at night and on the weekends. If you're a history buff like me, absolutely do the Mission Trail. There are 5, most notably the Alamo, but all are worthwhile to visit. I didn't realize it, but a couple of them are still functioning churches. Prior to the trip, I just assumed they were no longer in use and only for tourism. I also really enjoyed the Japanese Tea Garden. It's beautiful and serene. The best beef brisket I've ever had was at Black's BBQ in Lockhart, which is about an hour or so drive away. If you have transportation and like BBQ, you don't want to miss it.

There is plenty to walk around and see on the river walk and good food/drinks at every corner.  The Alamo is cool to see, but you probably wouldn’t spend over an hour or so there, so don’t plan a day around it.  Someone mentioned BBQ, the “Smoke Shack” is my favorite in San Antonio.  There are boat tours on the river that will give you some more history and might be good place to start to learn a little more about some SA history.
I go there for work so often that I forget some of the first timer fun stuff!  If you are staying near the Alamo, you may be at one of the famously haunted hotels, lol. You can even go on a “ghost tour” if you are so inclined, ;) Enjoy your trip!
