Dirty Frank

I didn't read the lyrics until today, and before today I thought they would have been funny considering the funkiness of the song. If you know the lyrics, what do you think of this song? Correct me if I'm wrong, but did the author find some sort of nebulous connection between a bus driver and a serial killer? I'm a little taken aback by the lyrics because I was so looking forward to a funny song. I can see the dark humour over time, but at first glance . . .

    From the Lost Dog notes:

    Words: Vedder
    Music: Gossard/Ament/McCready/Abbruzzese
    Album: Ten

Mike: About a serial killer bus driver? Around the time of the Chili Peppers tour.

Ed: Rob Zombie should make a movie based on these lyrics.
"I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." "The in between is mine." "If I don't lose control, explore and not explode, a preternatural other plane with the power to maintain." "Yeh this is living." "Life is what you make it."

i think its dark humor. i like it. i have a version on one of the imported versions of ten that is different than whats on even flow and lost dogs. the version on ten sounds more complete, has more lyrics.
I am the end of all your dreams...
  • Hahah first time I have seen the lyrics. They are funny! Just my kind of humour ;)

  • I think that there's a lightness to the lyrics, not to be taken too seriously.

Also, it was interesting to find out that this song was from around the time they were touring with RHCP as I feel it is heavily influenced by them, it sounds very similar to Give It Away.

don't take the song seriously. it is funny, you have to admit. :D
but the humor is very very dark though..

Dirty Frank is a great song! :D

You're right, I agree with you. I was just . . . surprised at first reading.

By the way, how do you get the smiley faces inside your message? Also, do you know how to make the colors of words different inside the message? FinsburyParkCarrots taught me about a year ago, but I forgot, and I don't know where the message would be.

embodied in this breathtaking composition you will find yourself entranced by a soul-deep and profoundly moving tale that will render you unable to sleep for nights on end. an epic fable of love, life and destiny, one that you will never forget.

  • The end is a definite rip-off from Freakey Styley... "cook em, just to see the look on their face" vs the peppers "fuck em, just to see the look on their face"

Pretty damn funny... I will always love Dirty Frank...

Great song. I think its about a early bus driver on a early tour. I like the "Even Flow" version better than the edited version on Lost Dogs
