Get right

I want for to lay down,
I'm waiting 'till sundown
I'm searching the haystacks, water is sunshine,
Wait for the moment
The moment between us, the fire is made now,
Harder to touch

I wanted to get right
I wanted to get right
I wanted to get right with you

Bakers dozen parades,
Stand and debate
Out single file, nine in a row, swear if you must
Keeping your boots on, float with the now,
Hot to the touch
Concrete underground, cast out everyday,
The dregs of society
Underbelly, beside me, rejoice and follow thee

I wanted to get right
I wanted to get right
I wanted to get right
With it, with you

So, what is this song about?

ok, Ms. Haiku, this is just instinctive.

he's tired, wants the day to end, he's looking for something that can't be found, there is something with someone, something that is there but not working and he wants it to work, 13, unlucky 13?, Not acting just knowing, this is strange but to me it sounds like batters/batsmen in a baseball game.. 9 strikes? hmm no chance to win?, not making a stand - no action just passive again, pulling away, hard - not wanted, finding solace in the dregs, but then he had wanted it to be right.

so it's about something that isn't going to happen but he wants it to because it should? but won't. 'water is sunshine' is tough but a beautiful line. i don't know liquid sunshine, hmmm. Anyway, tell me i'm atlking nonsense!

I don't think you're talking nonsense. I have no idea what it's about. However, it seems that Matt likes to focus on the built environment - haystacks, concrete, and then in You Are there's the tower. Wait a sec, you're an architect, look at this from an architect's perspective. Does it change for you if you look at it from an urban design analysis?

I like the water is sunshine line, too.

I tell you what, I've a 30 odd second snippet of 'Unemployable'... that's a Matt song, isn't it? and I LOVE the vibe, the whole sound, it seems so layered and structured, actually yeah quite architectural in its production, if his songs are moving down that route then great!

I agree too about Matts songs being strongly connested to environments...'in the moonlight'... I did not actually know that get right is a matt song but that makes sense, it has the same tectonic feel...

Overbudget, you forgot overbudget. Also, don't even bother unless you can get continuing education credit for the research involved. :D

ha, ha ...... out of the trinity of cost, quality and time, cost and time can sometimes be, shall we say, overshadowed. But look how long it took the lads to make their new album and that must have cost a pretty packet, quality will be right up there i'm sure.

This song kicks ass. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the bass! And it's dumb, but I almost clap along with the song during the chorus.
