Let Me Sleep

Cold wind blows on the soles of my feet
Heaven knows nothing of me
I'm lost nowhere to go
Oh when I was a kid oh how magic it seemed
Oh please let me sleep its Christmas time
Flowered winds was where I lived
Thought you burned not froze for your sins
. . . probably one of his best lines
Oh I'm so tired and cold

Oh when I was a kid oh how magic it seemed
Oh please let me sleep its Christmas time
Oh oh when I was a kid oh how magic it seemed
Oh please let me sleep its Christmas time
Oh oh when I if I was a kid oh how magic it seemed
Oh please let me dream it's Christmas time

So, since we are entering the spirit of giving, do you think this song hides more than it reveals or is it pretty straight forward? If you were to add lines what would they be?

Gift wrapped joy underneath the tree
in shop windows at day's close.
No gift tag with my name in view.
Lights so dark my shadow removed.

A little too foofoo for the lyric, but it's my first shot.

You think I lost my will to speak,
that dirt cut my mind with sharp lines,
but snow falls on both our tongues
removed from air removed from sale.

  • I'm terrible writing verse so I won't even try...

but I want to say that sometimes this is my favorite song in the world. I moved to Seattle right before Christmas a couple years ago and this song perfectly described how I was feeling... homesick, in a strange new city, right before Christmas, nothing to do, and it was raining.

Yeah, I love this song. Great lyrics. Great guitar, too. And percussion. Love it. :)
