Sweet Gigart's Ames Bros / Pearl Jam 1995 collection

Was going through my flat files & found a Pearl Jam folder from 1995.
I was an artist at Sony Signatures in SF creating concert merchandise.
Pearl Jam was about to go out on their Vitalogy Tour.
I was asked to work with them for a week. Lucky me.
Jeff & Barry Ament came in & worked with me, Eddie Vedder came in later to discuss the art.

And the kicker, I was invited to a show at Slim’s to see Mike Watt with Eddie, Hovercraft, & Dave Grohl’s first show as Foo Fighters!

Ok, back to what I found in my flat files:

I found these notes Jeff and Barry had written about all of the designs laid out an ideas for shirts and hats.
Here is also one of the water color lettering designs that Jeff had created for a shirt.
We made these buttons for Jack Irons, since he was in playing drums on this tour.
Also this snake carnival poster was made for each show by Ames Bros.
Spin the Black Circle Stickers... So another quick story…

Pearl Jam was going to play Golden Gate Park in the Polo Fields on this tour.
We at Sony Signatures had planned to set up a full silk screen booth at the event where each fan could screen their own shirt.
We took the SF poster design and made it ready to print on shirts. I found a couple of the films from these shirts.
The booth was awesome and started out great.

But if you know about this show and how it ended up, all the excitement was short lived.
Bad Religion and Neil Young played great sets…Pearl Jam came out for their set and after 1-2 songs stopped the show.
I remember Neil coming back out to save the day and played another full set…

But what a crazy event. I bet a lot of you were there. Oh well.

I am sure I have more items from working at Sony that I will eventually find and share.
Just thought it was fun to find these.

                                                    Very cool collection! Here's a close-up photo of one of the aforementioned t-shirts that was printed at the show. (I was there that day but bought this shirt many years later.) By the way, the make-up show they played at Spartan Stadium in San Jose is STILL the best Pearl Jam concert I've ever been to!
