I've cried to Black and Thumbing my way a few times. Especially black.
I have one to add that Is new. I cried to Man of the Hour a couple of nights ago. My father suffered lung cancer 4 years ago, and was given 6 months to live, but he beat it. But now he has been told he will not walk again because his muscles have wasted away, etc. His kidneys are failing and he may be put on dialysis, so this song made me think of him, and all people who have lost their mobility or lost a battle to a disease and have to bring their lives to a slow suffering stop basically.
release and thumbing my way can get me. anything on lou's magic and loss can get me. shawn smith's wrapped in my memory, although cheesy and misused by the sopranos, can get me. all of disinitigration, predictably. probably a bunch more that i've blocked out. there's two that stand above the rest, though. tom waits' kentucky ave can force you back into your childhood like no other song ever. but that's like a happy cry, so it cant go last. top billing goes to waits' a little rain.
she was 15 years old
and she'd never seen the ocean
she climbed into a van with a vagabond
and the last thing she said was "i love you, mom"
and a little rain never hurt no one.
Daughter made me cry once, in the middle of an open street, but for different reasons than the lyrics...
Man of the Hour has made me cry three times, once after the movie, and then twice after because it's so gorgeously lyricked (word?) and styled. Love it
I'll stick with the PJ ones, I think theres enough there

U2s WALK ON
at the garden in nyc during the elevation tour,
they rolled the names of all that perished on 9-11,
then they brought all these firemen ( about 100 )
out onto the stage, they all got mic-time,
very sad, very poignant
the band took all photos with all the firemen, down to the very last guy, then they played a few more songs before ending the show
For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
That it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive

i cried during light years. thinking about my girlfriend who moved away. and i also cried during thin air during another episode while thinking over my frustration over somebody.

Originally posted by ivaniss It was song called Indifference by Pearl Jam (live), because it reminded me at how sometimes we can do nothing to make difference in our lives.
especially theese:
I will hold the candle until it burns on my arm...
I will stear at sundown untill my eyes go blind...
I wont change direction, I wont change my mind...
I like poetry very much but I didnt read the song that was so inspired on my like this song.
Oh my, this song...ahhh...
The lyrics are pure poetry.... The music fits perfectly the lyrics of course as the lyrics fit perfectly the music... and the way Vedder sings it...Indifference indeed!
This song never made me cry, but it made me feel it...
I so bow to this song....
I will make my way thru one more day in hell...
I can't be free with what's locked inside of me...
i have not been home since you left long ago
i'm thumbing my way back to heaven
counting steps, walking backwards on the road
i'm counting my way back to heaven
i can't be free with what's locked inside of me
if there was a key, you took it in your hand
there's no wrong or right, but i'm sure there's good and bad
the questions linger overhead
no matter how cold the winter, there's a springtime ahead
i'm thumbing my way back to heaven
i wish that i could hold you
i wish that i had
thinking 'bout heaven
i let go of a rope, thinking that's what held me back
and in time i've realized, it's now wrapped around my neck
i can't see what's next, from this lonely overpass
hang my head and count my steps, as another car goes past
all the rusted signs we ignore throughout our lives
choosing the shiny ones instead
i turned my back, now there's no turning back
no matter how cold the winter, there's a springtime ahead
i smile, but who am i kidding?
i'm just walking the miles, every once in a while i'll get a ride
i'm thumbing my way back to heaven
thumbing my way back to heaven
i'm thumbing my way back to heaven...
You ask me to enter
But then You make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what You got
When all You've got is hurt
----
Underneath this smile lies everything
All my hopes and anger, pride and shame

I bawled my way all the way through Crown of Thorns in Vegas... and for a few songs after until Stone started Mankind. Then I was suddenly happy.
Thin Air makes me cry... Cause it's for Stone's girl. :(
