MOON Vs. SUN is an exciting new collaboration years in the making. One of Canada's most influential cultural couples – four-time Juno Award-winner Raine Maida (frontman with Our Lady Peace) and two-time winner Chantal Kreviazuk — are starting a new era of music which promises to be fearless. Writing together on their own project for the first time, they touch on the depth of their lives and partnership in a lyrical honesty rarely explored, while creating music based on their most profound influences – Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, and Neil Young… Passionate, honest and brave, the duo is embarking on their most challenging and fulfilling music journey yet, together.

Kreviazuk made her critically acclaimed full-length debut, Under These Rocks and Stones, in 1997. Since then, the Winnipeg born singer-songwriter has released five more studio albums, and garnered five JUNO Award nominations. Maida has forged a dynamic career as a solo artist and the front man for the band Our Lady Peace, 25-time JUNO Award nominees, including winners for Rock Album of the Year in 2003 (Gravity) and 1998 (Clumsy).

The pair has also co-written countless hits for artists such as Kelly Clarkson, David Cook and Carrie Underwood.

While Kreviazuk and Maida are quick to lend their time to the studio and stage, they are equally committed to lending their help to those in need — both in Canada and internationally. In March, the couple received the 2014 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award that recognizing outstanding Canadian artists whose contributions have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada.

"Not only am I able to express myself, and be able to play music for others and be creative for a living in life, but I can go to the next level and be a part of true greatness — the process of another human being's healing, possibly playing even a small role in improving the quality of life of another," Kreviazuk said.

War Child Canada is one of the many organizations the married couple has embraced. Kreviazuk is an honorary founder and active in various causes including women's rights, war refugees and child education. Maida launched War Child's Busking for Change program, in which Canadian musicians have raised money for children in the world's most devastated regions, supporting initiatives such as the construction of schools in the Congo. Additionally the couple has recorded contributions for multiple benefit albums for War Child.

"I was first drawn to music because of the inherent ‘hope' it provided me," Maida said. "Social activism carries that same promise and the two together have shaped and taught me more than I could ever repay."

In December 2014 the Governor General jointly appointed Raine Maida and Chantal Kreviazuk to the Order of Canada.

Kreviazuk and Maida held the global premiere of their documentary film, I'm Going to Break Your Heart, at the Royal Cinema in Toronto in January 2019. The docufilm follows their creative journey in the making of the music. Additional screenings were held at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, Calgary, Winnipeg and Ottawa also.

Part therapeutic process, part creative journey, I'm Going to Break Your Heart is the true story of rediscovering love through creativity, in which music plays the lead role. Nearly two decades together, Maida and Kreviazuk face challenges – like most people – with their relationship. I'm Going to Break Your Heart captures the raw and wrenching journey they took to find their way back to each other.

I'll check this out. There's a "soundtrack" coming out March 1st. Not sure if the film will be released to but I'd suspect so. Raine's solo stuff is pretty good.

They just announced a Moon vs Sun show at a local pub here in Red Deer, AB. I haven’t seen Raine live since the 90’s and can’t remember if I’ve ever seen Chantal. I just don’t know how they’d mix together live. Any of you seen them together yet?

If anyone goes to a show and they have cd's for sale, I would love a copy if you don't mind grabbing one for me. Also, for anyone in Canada that wants to do the digital route, there's mp3's, or 16 and 24 bit FLAC

Sweet, I hadn't seen that yet. Vinyl would be awesome. Did they add a Winnipeg show or you going to a different one? There was mention of US dates too but OLP is opening for the Bush/Live tour so not a lot of extra time

I think the Winnipeg show isn't listed on their tour poster, as it is a bit different. this one they are showing the movie, then doing a combination of performance and Q&A. It's on the 13th.

Ok, so one vinyl for you then?

    How was the show?
it was really good. it wasn't really a show, though. it was the movie, which they introduced, and then they came out and played a few songs, took some questions from the crowd, played a song or two more, took some more questions, and then one more song.

man, chantal talks a lot. raine just kind of stands there listening to her ramble on. he even once interjected when she was answering a simple crowd question with a 5 minute ramble and he said "i don't think that was the question" or something like that. watching the movie i can understand his frustration. lol
