question about "Betterman"

when Ed sings,
"She lies and says she's in love with him, can't find a better man.."
is the woman he is singing about saying, "Can't find a better man," as though she is reassuring everyone that she is happy and really, can't find a better person to be with? I was just wondering if that's what other people think is being said.. that question always runs through my head when I hear the song.. oh yes, GREAT song :D

    i didn't think she was actually saying it, but it was more of like a statement about her. that's just how i always interpreted it.

    Hey Lithium... yeah, that's how I understand it - she's tells herself (or rather, lies to herself) that she can't find anyone as "great" as him just to make herself feel better about being in the relationship, and not having the guts to get out of it.
    And yeah, I've also heard it's about Ed's stepfather and his relationship with his mother... or lack thereof.
